I heard it on the radio

A place to post all those gems that you've heard on the radio.

Cranfield tower was operating as approach when I heard the pilot of a hughes "huey" call up for a FIS after stating the aircraft type the pilot was asked "whats that then?" to which he replied "A big one" the controller, never one to miss an opportunity replied with the classic "I bet thats what you tell all the girls!"

Was receiving a FIS when I heard "Request rejoin due to Catastrophic GPS failure!"

During my day job during simultaneous take offs and landings on Viennas runway 34 a Lufthansa 737-500 was on final and an Alitalia MD80 was asked if he could and then accepted an immediate takeoff. The MD80 lined up on the Runway and stopped, Tower reminded him that he'd been cleared "immediate takeoff Runway 34" and the Lufthansa crew to confirm their intentions chimed in with "Hey spaghetti get moving, we want to land!"

Of course with all the Austrian Arrows Fokker 70's and 100's and the KLM Fokker hundreds, not a day goes by without some kind of joke regarding them!

I remember being at the hold waiting for a student doing his first solo to take off when he replied "taking off" to the tower but obviously with nerves kicking in forgot to release the PTT button.  Every one of his take off and rolling checks were broadcast to those on frequency, not only making it quite a funny thing to listen to but blocked up the channel so nobody else could transmit.  Didnt realise it until he was climbing out on the departure!  But thats just part of going solo I guess!
