New UK Flying Scholarship Database
Reply Quote
Hi All,

Back in 2009, following a successful career in the Combined Cadet Force (RAF) and as a fledgling 18 year old pilot i gained my PPL thanks to a Guild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators (GAPAN) scholarship.

Two weeks ago i launched http://www.flyingscholarship.com - an up-to-date resource for all pilots, both aspiring and current, who are searching for and applying to UK aviation scholarships. In addition to a description and outline for each scholarship, almost all entries have a direct link to the individual scholarship webpage. This makes finding out further information about a given scholarship much easier.

The aim is to mould the site into a trusted home for scholarship information and advice. Where scholarships are denoted as 'Closed' I attempt to seek an 'expected re-open' date for applications. Currently there are 34 scholarships listed in the database.

Although many of the scholarships are tailored towards young/aspiring/low-houred pilots, the database also includes scholarships for more advanced pilots, such as GAPAN's Flying Instructor bursaries, or ATPL ground school scholarships.

The site has both Twitter and Facebook pages, in addition to a monthly mailing list.

I would be delighted if you could take a look at the website and share the link amongst your friends/at your local flying club or school or to any interested parties. I plan to further develop the site in the near future, although this is partially on hold due to my final university exams.

Blue Skies,

Thomas Curtress
