Ampsair training at Conington

Hi all

I am a new visitor to this forum,  I have been reading a few threads on " how many Instructors" students under tuition get through.

I dont know if I was just lucky!! but I turned up at Conington and bumped into Gareth Aggett a flying Instructor at Conington who had just set up a school complete with classroom and new Ikarus c42 B rotax 80 hp GCGXI.

I have to say he has been superb, last weekeknd I completed 2 solo cross countrys on the same day 1 x to Sywell and the other to Fenland.

I did my first solo at around 18 hours and since done around 6 hours solo, my first solos were circuits and the weather was such that I pretty much covered circuits with LH patterns, circuits with RH patterns and from runway 28 and 10.

I have passed ( first time) Air law 95% Human performance 95% Meteorolgy 100% and airplane tech 100%  just Nav and RT to do and about another 5 hours and should be there.

Before I started this I already had a great background in building and flying large scale model aircraft both powered and turbines so I think it has helped.

Anyhow to finish... Ampsair have been great, Conington is a great place to learn and Gareth is damn fine fella.

PS  does anyone know what is the average time/ hours it takes to obtain a NPPL ( m ) unrestricted rating? Have I been lucky or is around 25/30 hours good?

Thanks and take care

Craig
